Consultation Process

If you are interested in a procedure performed by a plastic surgeon, the first part of this process is to book a consultation with your surgeon. Depending on the area you would like to discuss, typically this lasts about 30-45 minutes. Please inform the booking staff in advance about ALL areas you would like to address to allow enough time. You will also be asked to fill out some forms in advance you visit to ensure an accurate and complete medical history for Dr. Robinson to review. This includes any operative reports from other surgeons or information regarding previous plastic surgical procedures. Implant model numbers are very helpful. A physical examination will be performed, and often clinical photographs are taken by our staff. This allows Dr. Robinson to show you in real time how the body can be altered to achieve your goals, and what the limitations are of certain techniques.

Not all clients will be a candidate for the surgery they had hoped for. A reason for this may be health-related challenges that require optimization before surgery is safe or of benefit. Occasionally one may have an opportunity to become a better candidate for a successful surgery and Dr. Robinson will provide some recommendations in that regard. This may involve weight loss, smoking cessation, or further medical consultation with other specialists. We want you to be happy with your outcome and be safe, secure, and healthy throughout your journey.

You will be provided with a quote if your procedure is not a benefit of the Medical Services Plan (MSP). If your procedure is an MSP insured service, you will be placed on a hospital surgical waitlist.

Once You’ve Booked Surgery:

You’re off to the races! You will be provided with your followup appointment dates along with your surgery dates. In preparation for surgery, it is best to avoid any major lifestyle changes, unless instructed to do so by Dr. Robinson. You will be required the fast on the day of surgery. Dr. Robinson will meet you in the holding area where surgical markings and a final discussion are had, including meeting with the anesthesiologist. After our surgery, you will be cared for in the recovery room before being discharged home or transferred up to the ward. Care instructions are provided to you when you are ready to go home, and a prescription for pain medication if necessary. You will see our office nurse for your initial postoperative visit, and Dr. Robinson for your next appointment. If there are any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call the office.
